Getting rid of clutter and dust

Before working on the more subtle levels of Feng Shui within your home, have a good objective look at your space to see where there are accumulations of dead Chi.

Spring Clean

Dead chi pools wherever there are accumulations of old possessions and clutter, so have a good spring clean. Be ruthless- a good definition of clutter is possessions that you no longer use or things that are broken or useless. Like water, Chi energy has a tendency to stagnate in corners, so check every room and cupboard and clear away dust and cobwebs.

The Flow Of  Positive Chi

When you have decluttered your home, you can begin to take a closer look at the arrangement of your furniture and possessions to ensure a good flow of Chi. A few simple measures, such as moving a bed or arranging some flowers, can make a big difference. Once this is done, you will begin to benefit from a more positive chi flow of energy in your home.

Arranging your Furniture

We all have a desire for security while we rest, this dates back to when we were cave-dwellers. Here are a few tips to help you feel at ease:

\"\"

1. Position your bed so you have a good view of the door from where you sleep.

2. Make sure your bed is not in line with the door or window; a draught of Chi will drain you of energy.

3. Avoid placing your desk so that your back is to the door; you need to see \”ahead\” in life and need to know what is going on behind you.

4.  From your favourite chair, make sure you can see the door comfortably from where you sit.

Careful arrangement of furniture will ensure the best possible path for the positive Chi in your home.

Doors and Windows

Since the doorway acts as the \”mouth\” to allow Chi to enter any room, check how it is hinged relative to the adjacent walls.

Open doors

\"\"For active spaces, such as the hallway, dining room, lounge or kitchen. You need the door to open into space. In the other worlds, as you open the door, you get a full view of what is ahead of you. If the door opens onto an adjacent wall giving you a limited view, it is best to re-hang the door. Bedroom and bathroom doors should not be open fully, allowing positive Chi to enter slowly and quietly.

Clean windows

All Chi ultimately emanates from the Sun. Make sure that your windows are clean and bright to allow sparkling new positive chi into your home.
