The Muladhara chakra or the root chakra is the foundation for the other six chakras. The energy connects us to the Earth and is located in the base of the spine, the perineum. To be strong and sturdy, ready to hold the weight of growth a solid foundation is of extreme importance in anything; you can have a relationship but without the foundation of a solid friendship the relationship will slant, sink and be weak just like a house with weak foundations can be lived in but it is unsafe and not a healthy place. So in order to grow, we need a solid base, another name for the Muladhara is the Base chakra and when it is working well it keeps us grounded to the Earth.
